Aggro Santos (born Yuri Santos; October 12, 1988), is a Brazilian born rap vocalist who currently resides In south London, he first rose to fame in early 2010 when his debut single: Candy featuring vocals from ex-Pussycat Doll member Kimberly Wyatt, peaked in the UK official charts at number 5. The single spent 9 weeks in the official UK top 20 and achieved silver certification. He also toured with Britain’s Got Talent winners Diversity on a 27 date nationwide tour.
Early life and career beginnings: 1988–2009
Yuri Santos was born on October 12, 1988 in São Paulo, Brazil. He taught himself how to play the guitar at 9 and wrote his first rap record at the age of 15. He moved into London when he was 5 years old and attended a catholic secondary school called «Salesian College» to learn English and develop his academic skills. At the age of 14 he successfully auditioned for the BRIT School. At the age of 16, he sent his video called «Free Yard» to Channel AKA, which stayed at number one for about eighteen weeks while MTV Base also added it to their playlist.He started rising to fame through MySpace and started touring around United Kingdom and he made his first mixtape called Aggro Culture which sold 11,000 copies. He later took a job at Sky1.
He later met his manager Albert Samuel who wanted to sign Santos to a label, without initial success. He later made «Culo» which Warner Bros was interested and wanted to sign, but he refused it stating: «I got offered a record deal from them, but I didn’t feel like going to them because they didn’t even want to meet me! It didn’t feel personal.
